BOUNDARY SURVEYS

The point of beginning for land use projects is determination of property boundaries. This involves research of record documents, recovery of boundary evidence in the field, and application of boundary law principles. Finding existing boundaries is known as a Retracement Survey and the results of such a survey are depicted on a Record of Survey. New boundaries are generally formed by merging or dividing existing parcels after a Retracement survey in what is known as a subdivision action and the results are depicted on a Plat.
